In one of Leipzig's most popular districts, Leipzig-Gohlis, the CG Group is preparing another ambitious project: the revitalisation of the Bleichert-Werke, a former cable car factory and previously an industrial ruin. The project includes the restoration of the more than twelve historic production halls and administrative buildings on Wilhelm-Sammet-Strasse in accordance with the preservation order, as well as the construction of new buildings. A new development (multi-storey car park and office/commercial space) along the adjacent railway line serves as a noise barrier.
The open spaces of the Bleichert-Werke are divided into private open spaces, which are assigned to individual residential parties, and the public open spaces, which are available to the other residents as recreational areas. The theme of the historical use of the site is integrated into the design of the open spaces. Alongside the streets, linear elements - reminiscent of the cable cars once built there - play a major role in the open space design. The centrally located public open spaces offer attractive recreational opportunities as well as enhancing green structures within the new residential area.
