Project description

The district of Central Saxony sees itself as a role model and central initiator for the development and implementation of concrete climate protection measures in the region.

Within the framework of this project, a comprehensive energy and greenhouse gas balance of the district will be carried out for the years 2017-2020 according to the BISKO principle. The data collection is carried out in cooperation with the local climate protection management. The implementation of the balance is carried out with the web-based software Climate Protection Planner (KSP).

Parallel to this, potential analyses for energy efficiency and the generation of renewable energies within the district boundaries are being carried out. In detail, analyses and map sets for energy-efficient building renovation, solar energy generation (roof and open space potential), wind energy and geothermal energy are being created. A comparison with the situation of municipal properties enables the identification of concrete project ideas and approaches for action.

Based on a comparison of the results of the GHG balance, a benchmarking to nationwide comparative values is given. Based on national and Saxon objectives in climate protection, the required minimum scenario for the development of emissions in the district of Central Saxony is created. With a view to the current reports of the IPCC, a remaining budget of the district is developed and a target path towards future climate neutrality is established.

The project work is accompanied by process support from the local climate protection management, which can include the preparation and implementation of workshops, for example, depending on requirements.
